Bar Harbor Savings and Loan Participates in Friends of Acadia Earth Day Celebration

April 26, 2025

Staff members from Bar Harbor Savings and Loan braved the elements and participated in the annual Friends of Acadia Earth Day roadside clean-up brigade on Saturday April 26th.

The group was assigned the section of Eagle Lake Road between the Liscomb Pit Road and Kebo Valley Golf Club at Woodbury Extended. Trekking through the wind and rain, Rhonda Sawyer, Maureen Kane, Jacquie and Ken Colburn and Donna and Ray Chalifour filled bags with plastic bottles, aluminum cans, various paper and cardboard products and auto parts and pieces they found roadside.

President and CEO/Treasurer David Cohen said “Despite the weather, our staff and friends volunteered their time and effort helping to keep the island roads free of trash. We know how important giving back to the community is, and picking up roadside debris and trash helps locals and visitors to the area have a more enjoyable experience.”

This year a total of 206 volunteers collected more than 372 bags of trash from over 40 miles of road.
