Mary Parker Memorial 5K Supports Island Connections
October 15, 2022
Bar Harbor Savings and Loan was the title sponsor for the Fifth Annual “Running for Rides”. The Mary Parker Memorial 5K Run/Walk took place on Saturday October 15, 2022 after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic. BHSL employees and board members came together to help out on the day of the event. Bill Weir, President and CEO, was at the finish line, offering up water and congratulations for all participants. David Cohen, Nancy Sawyer, Rhonda Sawyer and her dog “Ava”, Ray Chalifour and Kathleen Field helped with registration and giving directions along the course. Family members Jill Cohen and Donna Chalifour joined in to assist with registration and photography as well.
BHSL has a long history with Island Connections—several BHSL current and past employees and Board members have donated their time and effort serving on the IC Board and volunteering with the organization.
“Running for Rides” is held in honor of Mary Parker, a dedicated Island Connections volunteer and employee whose work was cut short by cancer in 2015. Forty-three runners/walkers participated in the event.
