Spring cleaning for the roadsides

May 3, 2018

Over 250 people came out for Friends of Acadia’s 19th annual roadside cleanup last weekend. The event is held every year in honor of Earth Day. The Savings and Loan made a strong showing, with 70% of its employees participating.

BHSL’s Ardette Spear, Rhonda Sawyer, Jacquie Colburn, Nancy Sawyer, and Vicky Vendrell; plus their friends Donna, Will, and Brody; pitched in around Bar Harbor. BHSL’s Michael Pritchard; along with his wife Becky, daughter Alison, and Alison’s scout troup; joined in by the Tarn. And BHSL’s Dawn Nason helped out with her son Blake in Blue Hill.

Altogether, the volunteers picked up 488 bags full of trash. They also removed various random large objects such as tires, styrofoam panels, and even a 20 foot construction ladder.
